What is an Apostille?

An apostille is a certificate of authentication issued by an authorized government official that certifies the authenticity of a public document like a birth certificate, divorce decree, marriage license, death certificate, certified copy, criminal background check, or notarized document for international use. 

The apostille certifies the authenticity of the issuing official’s or notary public’s signature.

Once processed, the apostille is then attached to your documents and should not be removed, or it will invalidate the certification and will need to be resubmitted.
